We are Len and Betsy Phillips. This is who we are…
Missions.
A long time ago, we boarded a plane with a four-week-old baby girl and an odd, unmatched assortment of suitcases, trunks, and bags to head to Costa Rica to study Spanish, to learn a new culture, to make new friends, to serve, to love and to obey Jesus’ call on our lives. Since that first family journey abroad, we’ve purchased new suitcases (though they still don’t match), added two more children, a son-in-law and a granddaughter, boarded countless more flights, lived in four more countries (five, if you count the USA), learned more Spanish, are attempting to learn Albanian, and have made more friends…but are still serving and loving and obeying His call.
Education.
Len has an Elementary Education degree. Betsy has a Journalism degree. We both have a Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. As if that weren’t enough, Len completed a Masters of Education in Administration in December 2017.
Honestly, we love to learn. And we love to teach.
Over the last twenty years on the mission field in Latin America, we have been involved in theological education – leading lay training courses in Argentina, serving as faculty and administrators at a Bible institute in Honduras, teaching theology and serving on the Board at a university in Bolivia, working as Academic Dean and instructors and mentors at a Bible seminary in Bolivia. We’ve also been involved in Christian school education – teaching primary school English in Honduras, serving at an international Christian school in Bolivia as Elementary School Chaplain, teacher, coach, Board member, and co-Director. Oh, and homeschooling here and there. Currently, we are serving at GDQ International Christian School in Tirana, Albania. Betsy teaches Middle School Bible and works with Lower School Chapels. Len serves as Head of Secondary School (Grades 6-12).
Transformation.
We’ve had the privilege to teach and to mentor students of all ages. We’ve seen them grow academically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We’ve seen them surrender their hearts to the working of God in their lives and be filled with the power of His Spirit. We’ve seen them step out into ministry and become pastors and teachers and professionals and leaders…all with the ability to impact their families and communities for Christ.
Honestly, we desire that transformation in the life of each student we encounter.
Missions. Education. Transformation.
That’s our heart. That’s who we are.
